Digital Nomad Status A Bonus

It’s true. More and more countries are embracing and adopting the digital nomad status for remote workers, business owners and freelancers. Costa Rica, a country that has managed to balance its rustic, beautiful, underdeveloped environment with some of the most progressive policies and ideas, has signed up for the digital nomad offering.

The key advantage, stay beyond the restrictions of a tourist visa. Whether you fall into this digital nomad status or have a more old school work situation [i.e., an entrepreneur who owns his or her business], the digital nomad status is advantageous for you as well.

In my mind, the biggest issue is housing when you choose to take advantage of the extended stay. Rentals could get a bit pricey. True, there are increasingly more long-term rentals hitting the market with economies so that’s a consideration. However, for me, that translates to real estate opportunity. One, owning a modern-ized home in a community like San Juanillo or its bordering towns like Nosara and Ostional, for example, give you the best of both worlds. An affordable real estate investment, a remote workplace away from workplace and a long-term rental opportunity when you are back in your home of origin.

With the stock market as unpredictable as it has been and the remote environment not changing any time soon, this is the perfect storm for owning, remoting and balancing life.
